Theresa Klein

Theresa Klein, OTR/L is an Occupational Therapist who has been working in the field of Dementia Care for 29+years. As a clinician, she worked at the Mpls VA Medical Center and the U of MN mental health services. As part of The Geriatric Behavior Unit at Bethesda Rehabilitation Hospital, Ms. Klein worked as an interdisciplinary team member assisting in assessment and treatment of seniors who presented with complex behaviors. In 2000 Ms. Klein joined Emerald Crest team to assist in policy, training and program development. She created the dementia care program now used at all four Emerald Crest locations. In 2010 Ms. Klein created her own consulting business working with small and large senior living organizations, memory care communities, and families to educate, assess individual abilities, plan care, and problem-solve challenging behaviors. She specializes in program creation for those in middle late stage dementia.

Currently versions of her programs are utilized in memory care communities in MN, FL, & CO. Ms. Klein has published in professional journals including American Occupational Therapy Journal and The Gerontologist. She draws upon her extensive dementia knowledge and expertise to provide quality education, training, and resources to those who care for individuals with dementia. Ms. Klein is a frequent presenter at conferences including Alzheimer’s Association Caregiver Conference, Care Providers, Aging Services of MN, and MN Occupational Therapy Association. She has also taught as adjunct faculty at St. Catherine’s University, St. Paul, MN.
