Castle Peak Welcomes First Residents

October 2016 brought some exciting news to Augustana Care—a new community called Castle Peak by Augustana Care opened in rural Eagle County, CO. Castle Peak expects to serve approximately 110 people annually through assisted living, memory care, rehabilitation and skilled nursing services. Prior to the opening of Castle Peak, no extended care community was available in Eagle County.

We welcomed the community’s first residents, Chuck and Pearl Taylor, a few weeks before the grand opening occurred on October 27. A recent story about the couple was published in the Vail Daily.

The couple decided to move to Castle Peak to make life a little easier. “I don’t have to go to the grocery store and carry heavy sacks or climb the stairs anymore,” Pearl says. “It’s also fun to be with people at meals and when there’s entertainment.”

Kristie Damico, the Taylor’s daughter, is excited that her parents moved to Castle Peak. “I couldn’t be happier with the cheerful, loving quality of care,” she said. “Staff checks in on them yet honors their privacy. Marty the chef couldn’t be nicer about accommodating their culinary wishes. And it’s obvious there has been a lot of thought put into the décor, furnishings and landscaping.”

Most of all, Damico is relieved her parents will not have to worry about upkeep on their home or cook or shop anymore. They will also have the benefit of additional companionship and activities.

Offering new, exciting choices to Eagle County, Castle Peak is centrally located in the town of Eagle. Living options include assisted living apartments, memory care specially designed for those with Alzheimer’s and other conditions involving memory loss; short-term rehabilitation that provides time and therapy to recover from illness or hospitalization and skilled nursing for those with chronic or medically complex needs and hospice care.
