Doing laundry is a task that most of us take for granted. But it is something that must be done. While many of us may dread this task or consider it as a chore, there are professionals who make it their life’s work to keep our clothes and linens clean and fresh.
This month, we will observe National Laundry Day (April 15) and National Laundry and Linen Week (April 23-29). These are wonderful opportunities to celebrate the hard work of laundry professionals such as Cyndi, a laundry aide at Cassia’s Apple Valley Village community. Cyndi has been with the community for an incredible 39 years.
On a typical day as a laundry aide, Cyndi starts her shift at 5:00 a.m. She collects residents’ laundry throughout the building, then sorts, washes, dries, and folds the clothes. After everything is clean and folded, she delivers the clothes back to residents and the linen areas.
Cyndi’s dedication to her work sets her apart from others. But she also takes great care for the people she serves. When she delivers residents’ clean laundry, she takes the time to visit with them. By engaging in conversation and spending time with them, she builds a connection with them.
Jean, Apple Valley Village Marketing Director, says that Cyndi selflessly does more than is required of her.
“She goes above and beyond her job as she puts their needs before hers,” Andries said.
One of Cyndi’s coworkers, Tara, has worked in housekeeping at Apple Valley Village for 33 years. She describes Cyndi as loyal, dedicated and dependable. Cyndi credits her strong work ethic to her parents, who instilled in her the importance of dedication and hard work. Her father was a farmer, and her mother stayed at her job for a long time.
Dave Shaw, Apple Valley Village Administrator, is grateful to have Cyndi on the team.
“We are so lucky to have Cyndi working here at the care center. She has such a great attitude at work, is very dedicated to her job and is a super reliable employee,” he said.
As we observe National Laundry Day and National Laundry and Linen Week, let us take a moment to appreciate the hard work of laundry professionals like Cyndi, who make our lives easier every day.
